Declining COVID cases in southwest, Western Sydney is 'reassuring'

NSW Deputy Chief Health Officer Dr Marianne Gale says the decline COVID-19 case numbers in Greater Sydney’s local government areas of concern is “really reassuring” for health authorities.
The state recorded 1,063 new locally acquired cases till 8pm on Wednesday from 139,162 tests with the suburbs of Liverpool, Punchbowl, Cabramatta, Greenacre, Merrylands, Guildford, Blacktown, Auburn, Yagoona and Lakemba still reporting the bulk of infections.
Dr Gale praised residents for their enthusiasm in getting tested and vaccinated.
“We're really pleased to see declining numbers in areas of western Sydney and southwestern Sydney,” she said.
“A big thank you from New South Wales Health to all the residents of those areas for following the public health advice, for getting vaccinated in the such large numbers that you have and for getting tested promptly and seeing those declining numbers is really reassuring.”
