WATCH: Dayton Police Officer Manages To Subdue Suspect Despite Being Shot In The Head

DAYTON, OHIO - DPD (Dayton Police Department) released body cam footage of an incident where a Dayton police officer manages to subdue a suspect despite being shot in the head.
On September 21, 2021, a Dayton police officer responded to a Dollar General store in refence to a fraud report were a custom passed a counterfeit bill. Upon arrival, the officer took down the complaint, then later located the 39-year-old suspect in the 600- block of Ingram Street.
The officer immediately commanded the suspect to stop; instead, he dropped his belongings, punched the officer, and then tried to run away. The officer then deployed his Taser, which caused the suspect to fall to the ground. While on the ground, the suspect managed to retrieve a handgun and fired a single round, striking the officer on the side of the head. Even though he was wounded, the officer immediately fired back, striking the suspect multiple times.
The officer was driven to an area hospital by another officer where he remains in stable condition. The suspect was provided medical assistance at the scene and then taken to an area hospital in critical condition, but his status has since been upgraded to stable condition. The suspect charged with two counts of felonious assault on a police officer as well as carrying a concealed weapon, weapons under disability and counterfeiting.
